Irvine, CA – September 11, 2014 – The San Miguel Corporation was founded in the Philippines and first produced in 1890. They are the oldest and largest beer brand produced in the Philippines and Southeast Asia. San Miguel Corporation, is Southeast Asia’s largest public company, has grown into one of the Philippines’ largest business conglomerates with interests in alcoholic, non-alcoholic beverages, food, packaging, power, oil and telecommunications.
San Miguel has made a concerted effort to extend their support to the Filipino-American population. As such, San Miguel stated, “We couldn’t be more pleased to offer our support to Lorri Galloway.” Lorri is a first generation Filipino-American. Her parents immigrated from the Philippines to the United States in the 1950’s to begin their lives together and start a family. As Mayor, Lorri will be the first female and the first person of color in the city’s entire 157-year history.
Lorri Galloway was elected to the Anaheim City Council in November, 2004 and re-elected in 2008 and appointed Mayor Pro Tem in 2012. She is the founder and Executive Director of The Eli Home for Abused Children. The Eli Home provides abused children and their mothers, shelter and domestic violence prevention programs throughout Orange County. Through emergency shelter, advocacy, and outreach, Eli has benefited thousands of victims since 1983 and received numerous accolades including two Presidential Awards: the 338th Point of Light from former President George Bush and a Presidential Citation from former President Bill Clinton. Lorri stated, “I am honored to have the support of a world renowned corporation, San Miguel. I commit to serving the public with the same spirit of excellence that San Miguel has been doing since 1890.”
Lorri’s extensive background and over 30 years of helping families in crisis carried over to her position as an elected official. Her passion and dedication clearly works to improve the lives of the under-served. Lorri helped develop and promote the formation of the Anaheim Family Justice Center. The Anaheim Family Justice Center, which opened October 2006, creates a “one stop shop” for social service needs.
