Irvine, CA – September 29, 2014 – “Let’s get through this quickly and enjoy some San Miguel Beer!” said, Consul General Leo Herrera-Lim during his speech at the Asian Friendship Golf Tournament press conference on Wednesday. San Miguel was the drink of choice at the Philippine Consulate on September 24th, 2014. The Philippine Consul General, Leo Herrera-Lim co-hosted the Kick-off of the 9th Annual Asian Friendship Golf Tournament at the Community Hall of the Philippine Consulate. The Consul General welcomed the cooperation of the Asian American Chamber Association (AACA) composed of the Bangladesh, Cambodian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Malaysian, Mongolian, Pakistani, Singaporean, Thai Chambers and the Filipino-American Chamber of Commerce of Los Angeles (FACC-LA) in organizing the Asian Friendship Golf Tournament to benefit the Philippines. Thousands of Filipinos died in late 2013 because of Typhoon Haiyan, while hundreds of others lost their homes, workplaces, and even schools. A percentage of the proceeds from the tournament will be donated in an effort to rebuilding the Philippines and restoring their quality of life. The tournament will be held at Santa Clarita Mountain Course on October 20th, 2014. Attendees at the press conference enjoyed San Miguel Beer, the Philippines #1 beer, after the Consul General and others had concluded their speeches.
San Miguel has made a concerted effort to extend their support to Filipino-Americans. San Miguel said “We’re honored to be included in an event which will aid the Filipinos who were so devastated by Typhoon Haiyan”. San Miguel is the #1 beer in the Philippines and is on track to be just as popular in the United States. G.K. Skaggs is the exclusive importer of the San Miguel brand to nearly 50% of the U.S. market and foresees a bright future for the beer in the states. With four beers in their portfolio, San Miguel Pale Pilsen, San Miguel Light, San Miguel Negra and the famed Red Horse, San Miguel is well on their way to be #1 the world over.
